Oral Appliance Therapy
Allegheny Dental Sleep Center specializes in creating custom oral appliances to manage sleep apnea and other sleep-related conditions (such as insomnia, hypersomnia, bruxism (teeth grinding), narcolepsy, snoring and parasomnias). Oral appliances help keep your airway from collapsing or narrowing so that you can breathe easily and rest well. Oral appliance therapy is an excellent alternative to CPAP treatment. Our office uses state-of-the-art acoustic imaging technology to ensure that your appliance is perfectly fitted and provides the individualized solution you need.

CPAP
CPAP treatment is the traditional method of managing sleep apnea. CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) works by pumping air through a hose into a nasal mask that is worn over the head. This constant pressure in the airway pushes the tissues of the throat out of the way to keep them open and allow you to breathe easily. While this treatment is highly effective, it can also be uncomfortable, and many patients are unable to tolerate it in the long-term. Oral appliance therapy is often recommended as an alternative option to this treatment.

Home Sleep Test
Our dentists may provide you with a sleep test at home after your initial screening. This will help confirm our diagnosis and enable us to provide you with options based on your individual needs so that we can find the solution that works best for you.

Eccovision Acoustic Diagnostic Imaging System
Allegheny Dental Sleep Center uses the Eccovision Acoustic Pharyngometer / Rhinometer system from Sleep Group Solutions to test our patients’ nasal and oral airways. Using sound waves, this device can measure your airway to see how big it is and identify the site and severity of airway collapse. This allows us to find more effective solutions to treat sleep apnea, snoring and related problems.
